Introduction

Old Thorns, once the property of Ken Wood, is a luxury golf and spa hotel situated conveniently just off the A3 on the Hampshire, Surrey, and West Sussex borders, it is just a few minutes from Liphook, from where trains run to Waterloo. Offering a wealth of luxury facilities, Old Thorns boasts 151 bedrooms, 14 fabulous function rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, spa and health club, conference center, and 10 wooden eco-pods for ‘glamping’ that have to be seen to be believed. They also boast a championship golf course designed by ‘the voice of golf’ Peter Alliss.

Old Thorns is licensed to hold civil ceremonies of up to 500 people by Hampshire County Council. The Kings Restaurant is the hub of the hotel, where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served seven days a week. Carvery is what it’s good at, with three choices of meat and all the trimmings alongside a large buffet of starters such as smoked salmon, mozzarella and tomato salad, or pate and breads.

Strategy and implementation

VoucherCart provided Old Thorns Hotel with a flexible set of eCommerce sales features not supported under their legacy technology platform. This enabled them to sell widely across their products/services as well as package their products/services to be sold in ways that were not previously possible.

As part of the onboarding process, the team was able to look at all products/services sold over the counter, by telephone or which were saleable via booking, and voucherise these. The result is that Old Thors Hotel can now take payment in advance for their offerings where previously no option existed for buyers to do so with VoucherCart’s intuitive and personalised eCommerce self-checkout.
