How to maximise sales for Black Friday & Cyber Monday using VoucherCart

In this quick tutorial, we’ll show you how to quickly and easily turbo-charge your sales using VoucherCart for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales period.

As internet usage for eCommerce and online purchasing has seen a meteoric rise over the last decade, so Black Friday and Cyber Monday have emerged as two crucial dates in the sales calendar for all businesses. According to the National Retail Federation total sales per person over period from Black Friday through Cyber Monday is pushing $350 and may reach higher in 2018.

In short, it’s a window of opportunity for sales which cannot be missed.

However – As the old quote from Benjamin Franklin goes…

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.

Too many businesses miss out badly on sales during this period as a result of lack of preparation or strategy.

This blog sets out a couple of simple steps in VoucherCart which will ensure that you have a plan and can execute it effectively to maximise you sales during what has extended from a 4 day mega-sales window into a full week of increased buying activity.

What follows below takes a few minutes to 1 hour at most to set-up and is a sure fire way to turbo-charge your sales – It’s quick and very simple to do…so let’s jump into it.

Strategy 1


Single voucher promotion via email, website and social media (Limited-Time Deal)

Step 1: Create and send a teaser email

The teaser email will announce that on Black Friday you will be offering an AMAZING/MUST BUY Limited-Time Deal.

Step 2: Create your deal/offer voucher

The voucher deal/offer can be anything you like but should be attractive to your audience. 25% off XService or Product. Limited-Time Deal. etc.

Step 3: Social-promote your voucher from your dashboard

Add more Oomph! to your sales effort. Set your auto-promotion schedule for your voucher via Facebook and Twitter.

Step 4: Email voucher deal to your customer database

It's Thursday 22nd November, so time to email your customers your deal voucher notification with link to buy.

The basic premise is simple, as follows:
  • You'll create a SUPER-Deal voucher which will go on sale at the beginning of next month.
  • You'll email your entire customer database with an ATTENTION GRABBER, SUPER-DEAL email.  The email will contain a link direct to buy the SUPER-DEAL voucher (a voucher almost anyone can use like a Monetary voucher with extra for FREE, or a discount).  In the same email, you announce that this SUPER-Deal voucher is the 1st in a series of Monthly recurring Deal promotions and tell the recipients to follow you on Facebook/Twitter to receive news of each monthly Deal.
  • You'll schedule a recurring auto-promotion of the 1st SUPER-DEAL voucher as a limited-time deal/offer (with limited quantity available for sale if you wish) via your social media from VoucherCart dashboard.
  • Let the VoucherCart sales engine work it's magic.

The frequency with which your business offers deals/promotions will vary depending on your type of business, and indeed if your business strategy is to never discount your products or services or offer added value at all, then this is not for you.  For everyone else… Read on.

For some it may be Seasonal. (Spring Offer, Summer Offer etc.)  and for others more frequent than monthly, however the principal remains the same – and it works fantastically.

AND THATS IT...SIMPLE.

So let’s get started

Just follow these 4 steps below

Step 1: Create and send a teaser email.

The objective here is to whet your customers appetite, by letting them know there’s a big deal coming their way soon.

We’re also letting them know that there will be limited numbers available, a limited time in which to buy, and when they can expect to see/buy the offer.

Ideally you should be sending the email out to your customer database from a bulk email platform like Mailchimp, Constant Contact/Other and do so around 17th November (Around 5-7 days before 23rd November – Black Friday).

Step 2: Create your deal/offer voucher.

Your Black Friday deal/offer should have a countdown timer like the one in this image/example. You may choose to set the end date for the sales window to Cyber Monday, or even beyond as is the case with many Black Friday sales which now stay open for 7 days or more.

Your offer should be enticing to the buyer so either adding enough extra value or reduction in price to have their finger hovering on the buy button.

Step 3: Set your voucher to auto-promote via your social media

With automated voucher promotion scheduling, you can set any voucher to be promoted to Facebook and/or Twitter at any time and to recur at any set frequency.

So in this case you want to set your voucher to promote on Black Friday and end after 7 days or so promotion 2 or 3 times over the 7 day period through Cyber Monday. Choose days and times which you think will suit your audience.

Step 4: Email the voucher deal to your customer database

You said in your teaser email from Step 1 you would notify your customers when the deal goes on sale, so now it’s time to send it.

On Black Friday (or better the Thursday evening or end of business day) send your Voucher Deal notification email.

This can be a simple text email or use an eye-catching html example like the one here, but it must contain a link to buy the voucher.
